  • Tiscali LLU Services Outage - Case Status: RESOLVED
    09 March 2010 15:43

    Griffin have received the following notification of a ADSL LLU service outage from Tiscali, further updates will be provided as they are received.

    Estimated Restore Time: None made available.

    Supplier Reference: 3374169

    Description of Outage:

    Multiple LLU exchanges are showing as down around the Luton area. Affected customers will not have any services that run over DSL apart from 999 resilience. TMC are investigating.

    15:30 The Supplier has identified a major cable fault in Luton. Engineers have been tasked to site to investigate

    17:45 Supplier engineers are on site carrying repair works on the damaged cables. No ETF has been provided.

    19:30 BT engineers are still on site carrying repair works on the damaged cables. No ETF has been provided.

    06:45am The Supplier has advised that they have had some issues removing the broken fibres. They are expecting another update from their engineering teams.

    08:14am The supplier has advised that engineers have completed the removal of broken fibre and damaged ducts. Repair work is still ongoing. No ETR has been provided.

    15:55 The supplier has advised that repair is completed on one of the cables affected. Two other cables are being jointed.

    19:38 The cable repair work continues and the supplier estimates that service should be restored at 00:30. Pending until then.

    06:37 Update: The supplier has cleared this fault however we are still experiencing connectivity issues to the Hitchin, Letchworth and Shefford exchanges. Passed back to the supplier engineering teams for further investigation. The remaining problem seems to be at Hitchin which is a hubsite for both Letchworth and Shefford exchanges. The supplier cannot find any issue and the TMC have assigned an engineering team to address this fault. The console server at Hitchin is also down causing a loss of 999 calls.

    Resolution: BT engineer reseated Service Card at the Hemel Hempstead PoP (A-End). Service is now restored to all the exchanges affected

  • Tiscali LLU Exchange Outage - MBORC - Case Status: RESOLVED

    Supplier Reference: 3342432

    Description of Outage:

    BT have identified an fibre damage in a duct 2km from the Wolverhampton Exchange. This damage is caused by a third party. BT has declared the incident MBORC - Matters Beyond Our Reasonable Control. No Estimated Time of Fix has been provided.

    Several LLU exchanges connected to the Shareshill aggregation router have lost connectivity due to this fault. All exchanges will still have 999 emergency call functionality through the exchanges console connection.

    BT and the TMC are currently investigating. Exchanges affected listed below.

    Broadwell, Great Barr, Stourbridge, Kingswinford, Kidderminster, Tipton and Dudley.

  • DSL Connectivity Issues - Case Status: RESOLVED

    We have been investigating issues with DSL connectivity at 18:15 and 19:40 this evening. A number of DSL sessions lost connection at these times and were redeployed back on to the network after intervention from Operations.

    Operations are continuing to monitor the network and a rebalance of the DSL platform will be undertaken after midnight.

  • DSL Network Disruption - Case Status: RESOLVED
    08 February 2010 21:00

    At around 18:00 this evening a number of DSL customers were disconnected from the network. Whilst troubleshooting this issue the router responsible for the initial failure once again dropped itsDSL customers.

    As a consequence of this second drop some of our leased line customers were also disconnected from the network for a short time.

    Our engineers are continuing to look into the cause of the fault with the help of our suppliers. We are conducting this work outside of our heaviest network usage periods to minimise customer impact.

    We apologise for any inconvenience caused by this matter. Our engineers and suppliers are working to ensure the stability of the network as quickly as is possible.

  • Third Party Incident Notification (BT Faults) - Case Status: RESOLVED

    Synopsis
    We have been made aware that BT Wholesale currently have issues with the XML interface used for Engineer Appointment Bookings and Diagnostics. They have advised that no appointments should be placed until this service has been restored and customers may experience issues when attempting to run diagnostic checks on lines.

    BT Wholesale have advised that they are currently working to restore the services and further updates will be provided as soon as we have them.

  • Delivery Failures from Hotmail - Case Status: RESOLVED
    15 December 2009 10:00

    We are currently working on resolving an issue relating to customers attempting to send email to hotmail addresses (hotmail.co.uk and hotmail.com). Some customers may be receiving delivery failures when sending to these addresses.

    It seems that an address utilising our mail network has caused Microsoft to place restrictions on mail being sent from our platform.

    The address in question has been identified and is now suspended, we are working with Microsoft to get these restrictions removed and further updates will be provided as soon as we have them.

  • MOPS 1 Diagnostic Tools - Case Status: RESOLVED

    We are currently investigating an issue on the MOPS 1 platform. The application is currently experiencing intermittent issues for all users when running diagnostic checks, which will also impact the ability to raise line faults for BT products.

    Operations are currently investigating the issue and further updates will be provided as soon as we have them.


  • Important DNS Lookup Information - Case Status: RESOLVED

    Operations are undertaking a configuration change to our DNS settings on Thursday November 19th at 07:00. This work is required to increase security and performance of the DSL platform.
    As a result of this change, the DNS servers with the following IP addresses will no longer be available: 217.79.111.7 and 217.79.96.163. These DNS servers are no longer in general use and so we anticipate minimal impact.
    The correct DNS IP addresses to be used are 85.189.102.5 and 85.189.39.5
    The majority of our customers automatically acquire the correct IP addresses, however customers with their DNS settings hard coded to the former IPs will need to reconfigure their equipment before the 19th to employ the correct IPs, failure to change these settings will lead to a loss of browsing facilities on connections.
    It is important that the changes are made where necessary prior to the 19th to ensure a continuous ability to use connections in the normal way, without disruption. If you have any queries about this briefing, please contact partner support at partner.support@griffin.com.

  • Tiscali LLU - Connectivity Issues - Case Status: RESOLVED

    We have been advised by Tiscali that they are currently investigating an issue relating to LLU DSL services in the North Nottinghamshire, North Derbyshire and South Yorkshire areas. Lines located in those areas may be having issues with connectivity.

    Affected exchanges include:
    Retford, Wadsley Bridge, Sheffield, Conisborough, Gainsborough, Woodhouse, Stocksbridge, Ranmoor, Wickersley, Goldthorpe, Beauchief and Staveley.
    This includes lines with area codes 0114, 01246, 01777 and 01709.

    Tiscali are currently working with BT to restore service and further updates will be provided as soon as we have them.

  • Linuxweb 3 Server - Case Status: RESOLVED

    We are have been investigating an issue with the Linuxweb 3 server. Access was unavailable to this device earlier today, customers with hosted email or websites on this server were unable to access their services.

    The server is now back online and accessible with Operations keeping a close monitor on its activity at present.

  • Leicester Data Centre - Case Status: RESOLVED

    We are continuing to investigate an issue at the Leicester data centre. There have been issues with power this morning that are affecting email services and DNS located behind the firewalls at the data centre. As a result mail is being delayed and customers may be experiencing authentication issues. In addition to this, users may notice that their DSL connections may be experiencing degraded loading of websites.

    Please note that Communigate Email and SAN services hosted in Leicester are not affected.

    Operations and our supplier are onsite currently working to resolve normal services and a replacement pair of firewalls are being prepared in order to be installed once ready. Further updates to follow..

  • Leicester Data Centre - Case Status: RESOLVED

    We have been investigating an issue at the Leicester data centre. A power issue at the site affected connectivity to all services located there from 19:30 tonight.

    Services based at Leicester were affected with Non-communigate Email, DNS and SAN services unavailable.

    All services have been restored as of 21:50. Operations are still on site and monitoring the situation whilst awaiting the arrival of our UPS vendor who will be undertaking work on their device overnight to restore its full functionality. Further updates to follow.


  • BT Exchange Upgrades - September/October 2009 - Case Status: RESOLVED

    We have been advised that BT will be undertaking a series of further DSLAM upgrades within a number of exchanges nationwide in three further phases during September and October. Customers may experience up to 60 minutes of downtime on their DSL connections between the hours of 00:01 and 06:00 on one of the following dates:
